Lovers Key Carl E. Johnson State Park
Lovers Key has it's name for a reason. Old timers recall newlyweds honeymooning on the island in the mid 1930's. Boaters would go there which would be Bonita it's very own make out point. Lovers Key is the most westerly and has 3 other barrier islands that make up the state park. Black Island, Long Key and Inner Key. One black island legend has it that the pirate known as Black Augustus lived there for nearly 50 years. He used the the island as a safehouse until his death in the 1870's. It is a great point of interest and state park to visit. For more information on this and other places of interest in the area contact me.
